Every designer, whether he is a beginner or a professional will someday, in his career create icons for his client or his portfolio. Creating icons can be extremely fun, provided you do it the right way. Most importantly, you should learn the basic principles of icon design first, the importance and functions of icons on web sites and in user interfaces. This might take a long time but trust me, its the right way. You should also learn how to use your imagination and creativity to reflect the characteristics of the icon effectively.
Neatly designed icons can make a website more attractive and easier to use and aesthetically more pleasing. There are hundred of tutorials on how to create icons on the web today so this one might seem not that exciting but, I wanted to try something different and approach this in a unique manner.
Create a minimalistic button with a ribbon in Photoshop
Feb 5th
Creating buttons can be a lot of fun. It can be used in a lot of ways like icons, logos and even to represent price tags. Even though it is very simple and easy to create, they look minimalistic and are pleasing to the eyes.
In this tutorial, we will learn how to create a minimalistic button and we will wrap a ribbon around it. We will be learning a lot of effects and later styles in this tutorial. Instead of using Illustrator, I have used Photoshop because it gives a lot of flexibility and for those of you who are learning the basics of Photoshop, this will help you a lot. Also, I have managed to use only shape layers to create these buttons so that they can be expanded to any size, just like in Illustrator because these shapes are vectors. I have also included a free PSD. So, let’s get started.
