How to Effectively write a tutorial
Mar 7th

In one of my previous articles, I shared with you my opinions and viewpoints on How to effectively write a design article. I was quite pleased with the feedback I received. I think there are more people out there who need to be made aware of how to write a tutorial on Photoshop or Illustrator. Once this is learnt and mastered, it is quite evident that the tutorial is going to reach out to many people than it would have done if you don’t know the basic protocols to be followed while writing a tutorial.
If you have noticed, once you finish writing your tutorial and submit it to few of the sites which showcases tutorials, for example good-tutorials, Pixel2life, to name a couple; not all of them get accepted. So, how does one make sure that his/her tutorial is upto their standards or what they feel is worthy enough to be published. Most of us do not see this paradigm but due to the gigantic number of design blogs that are floating out there on the web, it becomes extremely difficult to accept each and every tutorial that is being submitted.
The Mystical World of Mandelbrot fractals
Mar 4th

If you haven’t heard about the Mandelbrot fractals, you are missing one hell of a wonder which is simply unravelling. As I always quote, deep down in the design world, it is always about equations and numbers. As it happens, these, so called fractals, were just a 2 dimensional representation of magical designs until Daniel White and Paul Nylander constructed the 3D Mandelbulb.
The 3-D renderings were generated by applying an iterative algorithm to a sphere. The same calculation is applied over and over to the sphere’s points in three dimensions. In spirit, that’s similar to how the original 2-D Mandelbrot set generates its infinite and self-repeating complexity. Beneath this geeky stuff, there is a strange yet creative world of 3D abstraction.
Create a Stunning Retro Futuristic Typography
Mar 3rd
Retrofuturistic design is a return to, and an enthusiasm for, the depictions of the future produced in the past, both in science fiction and in nonfiction futurism of the time, which often seem dated by modern standards. We always strive towards creating a better future. Whats more compelling than envisioning one.
The future as seen by many of us have been expressed in forms of art, design, movies, comics, and even cartoons. Ever since man landed on the moon, he has been fascinated by the very concept of space. Space is nothing short of an artistic masterpice carefully crafted to hold mysteries together. Whenever we imagine about the future, we visualize space, stars and the planets instantly.
Creative and unusual typefaces from HandMadeFont
Mar 1st

I cannot imagine anyone who doesn’t love typefaces. It is in the air we breathe, the food we eat and the things we see. Well, not literally but that’s how we express our love towards typography. In typography, a typeface is a set of one or more fonts, in one or more sizes, designed with stylistic unity, each comprising a coordinated set of glyphs. A typeface usually comprises an alphabet of letters, numerals, and punctuation marks; it may also include ideograms and symbols, or consist entirely of them, for example, mathematical or map-making symbols.
The term typeface is frequently conflated with font. The distinction between font and typeface is that a font designates a specific member of a type family such as roman, boldface, or italic type, while typeface designates a consistent visual appearance or style which can be a “family” or related set of fonts. For example, a given typeface such as Arial may include roman, bold, and italic fonts.
30 most awesome Apple inspired concept designs
Feb 27th
Whenever it comes to flawless designs, Apple has never disappointed us. Right from being the pioneer in modern computers (with the Macintosh); to the leader in the phone industry (with the iPhone), Apple has created wonders of the gadget world, or rather engineering marvels. This has inspired artists to design their own version of Apple products to show their love towards their favorite “Star”. We saw how Apple mesmerized us with the iPad, although some of us might think that it was not really as exciting as the other Apple products, considering the hype that was present around it. However, we can admit that it has a lot of scope for further improvements; but the fact remains, Apple does not compromise power, performance and style for anything else.
70 most creative advertisements featuring animals
Feb 26th
When it comes to creativity, one of the best source of inspiration we can look for are the advertisements. Ads do not just endorse a product or a service, which it used to several years ago but nowadays send a strong message to the viewers in a very creative manner. It takes more than just a look at these to admire and appreciate the idea behind creating such a concept.
I’m sure we agree advertisements are a fastest way to convey a strong message to the audience. Sometimes these ads are just a strategy used by some companies to promote their products while at other times are meant to leave the audience awe struck.
How to Effectively write a design article
Feb 24th
In one of my previous articles, we discussed about ‘How to become a kickass blogger‘. In that, I shared some of the points which I thought was really helpful for those of you who are new to blogging about design.
Well, considering the amount of design blogs that are existent on the web, one needs to understand that – the usual way of writing any design article would not work anymore. When i say, the “usual way”, i mean articles such as roundups, resources and others. Not that they aren’t interesting to read, but are made boring by the huge number of similar articles we read everyday on other design related blogs.
Create a retro grunge typographic poster in Photoshop
Feb 22nd
Retro and Grunge are quickly becoming a new trend. These type of designs are becoming more and more popular in a variety of design contexts like corporate designs, portfolios, poster work and nowadays, even blogs use both styles on a small and large scale. When applying “old-style” elements to their works, designers produce creative and appealing designs that make their websites stand out and look really different. If these type of retro look are executed carefully, the results are stunning and will catch the eye of the viewer instantly. It sends out a very strong message when typography is placed within these styles. These retro typographic elements create a nostalgic atmosphere around us, awakening our inner feelings and memories.
50 most awesome vexel art and tutorials
Feb 20th
Vexel is a neologism for an entirely pixel-based form of raster art that imitates the visual appearance of vector graphics technique. The word itself is a combination derived from a combination of “vector” and “pixel. Vexel designs are composed by using multiple layered shapes. It can be done in Photoshop, but these type of raster designs are not limited to only Photoshop but can be done with any image editing software that has a good Pen Tool.
Instead of using vector-based lines, shapes, and polygons to create an image, a vexel is typically created using a raster program’s support of transparent layers. Each transparent layer is given a solid/gradient shape. In some cases, for more realism, gradients are used that remove the stepping in the color transitions to create a smoother, photo-realistic image.
